Prosper Fingal — creating choice and opportunity

Our story

Working in Fingal since 1978

Prosper Fingal was established in 1978 by parents and friends of people with disabilities. Their aim was to create a local day service for adults with an intellectual disability.

The organisation grew from that community effort. Today, Prosper Fingal provides day, residential, respite and clinical supports. It is part of Prosper Group, which works across Counties Fingal and Meath.

Prosper Fingal provides social care services on behalf of the State and is funded through an annual service arrangement with the HSE.

Our core purpose

To support each person to live the life they choose

Support should help a person take part in ordinary life, make decisions and be included in their community.

“Support each individual to live the life they choose, in the same way and same places as everybody else.”

Our values

How people should experience our support

These values guide decisions, relationships and everyday practice.

Person-centred

The person’s wishes, rights, strengths and goals are central.

Respectful

People are listened to and treated with dignity.

Professional

Support is dependable, skilled and accountable.

Ethical

Decisions should be fair, honest and rights-based.

Progressive

We learn, improve and look for better ways to support people.

Positive

We focus on ability, opportunity and what can be achieved.

Our approach

Support planned with the person

  • Each person should have a personal plan based on what matters to them.
  • A key worker can help the person communicate goals and organise agreed actions.
  • Support should respond when needs or wishes change.
  • Families, advocates and trusted people can be involved when the person wants this.
  • People should know how to give feedback, raise a concern or make a complaint.
